Class Descriptions - Youth
A & E Tennis Academy and Town of Castle Rock Parks & Recreation now offers a full range of classes for our local youth.
Classes will run in 3 week sessions, with sessions starting in mid-April 2009. Except for Pee-Wee Tennis, our maximum class size is 16 students, with a student:teacher ratio of 8:1. Pee-Wee Tennis will be a 45 minute class, all others will be 1 hour.
*Pee-Wee Tennis (Ages 4-6) - For our tiniest tennis players. These classes will focus on hand-eye coordination, body awareness, and some of the beginning tennis strokes. Using both drills and games to engage these little ones we hope to give them the fun time they're looking for to keep coming back. Class sizes here will be smaller to give our active little ones the full attention they need.
*Novice Tour (Ages 7-10 Beginner) - For our young, up & coming stars. These classes will include both tennis instruction and cardio exercise, with a strong focus on hand-eye coordination, body awareness, and beginning tennis strokes. We will also incorporate basic tennis knowledge and etiquette into each class to give these young ones the tools to feel confident and successful.
*Satellite Tour (Ages 11-13 Beginner) - For our future competitors. These classes will include both tennis instruction and cardio exercise, with a strong focus on hand-eye coordination, body awareness, and beginning tennis strokes. Classes will be adjusted appropriately for the age and athletic ability of these older, new tennis players. We will also incorporate basic tennis knowledge and etiquette into each class to give these young ones the tools to feel confident and successful, and ready to be a part of our growing tennis community.

Castle Rock Junior Team Tennis
JTT/Championship Tour (Ages 11-17) - For middle school and high school students. Our current competitors ready to take it up another notch. This is for intermediate to advanced youth tennis players. These classes will focus on serving, scoring, match play and development of strokes, with an emphasis on tennis etiquette and basic tennis knowledge. Classes will include cardio exercise, drills, and match play to help these players be competitive in the Colorado tennis community. This class will require some parent participation.
*Qualifications - Players MUST be able to serve (overhead) 5 out of 10 balls into the correct service box. Players MUST be able to maintain a minimum of a 4 ball rally from mid-court. Players MUST know and be able to execute the basic tennis strokes with moderate success.
Participants will have an opporunity to participate in a preseason session with classes twice a week. Classes and Match play will begin in the summer.

Class Descriptions - Adult
Thanks to A & E Tennis Academy and the Town of Castle Rock, Adult Tennis is coming to Castle Rock!
*Adult Beginner A - For the first time tennis player. Classes will focus on the beginning tennis strokes as well as movement on the court, basic tennis knowledge, and tennis etiquette. Classes will include some cardio exercies, drill, and games.
*Adult Beginner B - For the experienced beginner or rusty player. This class is for tennis players who have some tennis experience and know the basic tennis strokes. Classes will focus on development of strokes, serving, scoring, and beginning match play. Classes will include cardio exercise, drill, games, and an emphasis on basic tennis knowledge and tennis etiquette.
*Drill & Play - This 2 hour class is for intermediate (or advanced) players looking to hit lots of balls and gain greater match play knowledge and experience. Hour 1 will include drills that focus on stroke development, ball placement, and movement on the court. Hour 2 will inculde singles and doubles round robin match play emphasizing scoring, strategy, and tactics. This class will include cardio exercise.
